In the show This is Us (2016-Present), Chrissy Metz plays the role of a personal assistant who deals with self-esteem and weight loss issues. In real life too, the star has had many weight loss issues. Here, we are trying to explore her weight loss secrets that actually worked for her. Believe us, they are really doable. We also get to know about what motivated her to opt for weight loss, what’s her desired weight goal and how her new show is a boon for her weight loss in real life.

Weight Loss Motivation

Though the TV actress has always wanted to lose the extra weight she carries around, one incident came as an eye opener. She was enjoying her 30th birthday party about 6 years back, and suddenly she felt heart palpitations. She was really scared by the experience and for a few moments, she thought that she was dying. When she was taken to the hospital, the doctors told her that it was a panic attack and warned her about the extra weight. They told her that she can’t go on the same path for long. Post that incident, she realized that it was not only a physical thing. It was related to soul, spirit, mind & body and everything wasn’t connecting with her.

Realizing the Self Worth

Soon after the incident, Metz got into reading and spiritual work. It helped her realize her self-worth and that people are perfect beings. Unfortunately, all of us are not taught that.

Weight Loss Secrets

While talking to People, the talented actress revealed her top two weight loss secrets. One is eating less than 2,000 calories’ diet and the other is walking 20 minutes a day. By following this method, she lost 100 lbs. in less than 5 months’ time. She has succeeded in keeping most of that weight off.

Another Revelation

The blue-eyed woman says that when she played the role of a big top fat lady Ima Wiggles for American Horror Story: Freak Show (2011-Present), she realized what might be in store for her if she didn’t lose weight. The entire experience was sobering. She realized not being able to walk around and getting stuck in the doorframe wasn’t the life she wanted for herself.

Being Happy

At the moment, the brunette is happy with who she is. She is still very aware of her workout and diet habits. Chrissy has also increased her weight loss efforts in line with her character, Kate Pearson in This is Us.

No Weight Goal

The comedian is also firm on the fact that she doesn’t have a body size in mind for how slim her character should be. She just wants to decide it by looking at the mirror and at herself. In the physical sense, she is interested in feeling better and not having to be put in a box. She also doesn’t want to be limited by anything.

The Perfect Role

Chrissy has also revealed that there is a mandatory weight loss clause in her contract with the show as a key part of Kate’s narrative is to lose weight. The result of this development is that the skilled actress constantly thinks about weight. But, she has no regrets about it. Chrissy says that it’s a win-win situation for her as it motivates her to be regular about her fitness. It’s an ego thing because people are more likely to do something for someone else rather than doing it for themselves. In her case, she is losing weight for Kate, not herself. The contract needs her to lose weight to show Kate’s progress.

Completely Her Choice

The girlfriend of cameraman Josh Stancil says that it was her choice to commit to a role where she would have to lose weight. She was not motivated to lose weight due to external pressures. Metz is doing it for her health. In her opinion, big, curvy and voluptuous bodies are awesome and sexy, so she isn’t trying to slim down to look sexy.

You are Not Your Weight

The Florida-born believes that people are much more than a weight number. She doesn’t get it when people try to find other people’s identity in their weights. She also thinks that being overweight or big shouldn’t be something to worry about until it’s endangering your health. You should learn to accept yourself for who you are, if you don’t, you won’t get to be a person you are supposed to be. (Wise words, we must say!!)

Dealing with Bullies

The world is filled with bullies. They are the people who make fun of other people and criticize them for who they are. The singer-songwriter deals with them with kindness and love as that’s what they need the most. She has been a victim of internet bullying many times. If she can’t deal with the bullies with kindness, she chooses not to respond to their comments.
