The new directors don’t make their first movie, immediately after finishing their college. Starting a career as a movie director can take much more resources than what you think. After all, the newbie directors won’t start making films, but music videos. Most of the famous directors in Hollywood have had their first break as video creators. The temptation and passion for creating your first movie is great. But, starting slowly and with less difficult projects is the right way to become a legend in the movie making business.

Michael Bay
Michael is a good director, but not many will say the same. Even, if he made a couple of movie classics, he wasn’t so great with the latest Transformers movie. It was created in 1990, and Michael had a good start at the MTV with this video. It was a creation, good enough to let him make a step in the right direction. Mark Romanek
Many people don’t know, but Mark was the director of Michael Jackson’s music video Scream. He won a Grammy Award for it. Mark had also put his magic on music videos such as 99 Problems, Free Your Mind, Criminal and Johnny Cash’s Hurt. The list goes on like this, and there is no doubt that Romanek would try to direct a movie after that kind of success. So, he directed the movie One Hour Photo with the brilliant actor Robin Williams in 2002. It won couple of awards and nominations, which led him to direct couple of more movies such as Never Let Me Go, Locke & Key, and there are rumors that he will direct The Lost Symbol.
Michel Gondry
The French producer, screenwriter, and director, Michel Gondry has made a huge impact by directing the creations of artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Bjork and The White Stripes. He is the man behind the fabulous direction of the music videos Let Forever Be, Bachelorette, Fell in Love With a Girl and a few others. Michel’s work is always different from other directors and hence is remembered. He is capable of incorporating tricks and talent into a project unlike any other. For his contribution to the industry, he was also able to win an Oscar for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It was a huge success. Gondry has also offered projects such as Dave Chapelle’s Block Party, The We and The I, and The Green Hornet.
David Fincher
David Fincher is one of the most respected directors, and everyone who loves this art, must be familiar with this personality. He has done amazing work in creations such as Se7en, Zodiac, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and The Social Network. Fincher doesn’t direct very often, but when he does, everyone pays attention. He is one of those people who rarely makes a mistake. Talking about music videos, David has worked with legendary names such as Madonna, Aerosmith, and The Rolling Stones. Lately, his work was mentioned in Gone Girl, and two episodes of the famous House of Cards.
Spike Jonze
Spike Jonze is another amazing director who started his career by directing music videos. He has worked with several famous music artists. He has collaborated with legendary names such as Bjork, Beastie Boys, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, and Fatboy Slim (for the track Weapon of Choice). For those of you, who can’t remember, Christopher Walken appeared with a historic dance in the music video of Weapon of Choice. After successfully directing several music videos, Spike was ready to make his first movie, which was called Adaptation, released in 2002. Many movie fans must be aware of the movie Her, which was released in 2013 and received an Oscar nomination. Apart from his directing abilities, Jonze is also a writer. He took part in the making of the Jackass: The Movie, and many other screenplays.
