  1. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas.
  2. At the age of 11, she experienced her first theater show “The Pajama Game” at the Casa Mañana in Fort Worth, causing her the awareness that it was what she wanted to do in her life.
  3. Though her father disapproved her choice in theater, her mother helped her get the tap, ballet, and jazz lessons.
  4. While at the university, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
  5. In 1966, she won the crown of “Miss Fort Worth” and further participated in the “Miss Texas” contest and won the runners-up title.
  6. She was asked to perform at the 1967 “Miss America” pageant, catching the eye of a talent scout.
  7. Before embarking upon an acting career, she worked at a local Texas newspaper, Fort Worth Press, for a year.
  8. In 1969, she moved to New York to pursue her acting career and just a day after arriving in New York she got cast for the Broadway musical “1776”, in one of the 2 female roles.
  9. On March 9, 2007, she was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in Austin, Texas.
  10. She practices therapy and spiritual meditation.
  11. As a young actress, she was inspired by the works of Geraldine Page, Kim Stanley, and Gena Rowlands.
