The song picked up even more attention of the audience when it was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Dangerous Minds starring Michelle Pfeiffer. He had used his own life experience and struggles with drug addiction to write and release famous singles such as Fantastic Voyage (1994) which reached the 3rd spot on the Billboard Top 100 list, as well as 1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New) in 1996, and C U When U Get There in 1997. He released a few other less-successful albums from 2001 to 2008 after being dropped from his first record label, Tommy Boy Records.
