  1. She has won 2 WTA titles in singles and 1 in doubles.
  2. She was born to athletic parents who were nationally ranked in athletics and ice hockey.
  3. Kasatkina started playing tennis at the age of 6.
  4. During her junior years, she won the European 16s championship and junior Grand Slam singles title at the 2014 French Open. From there, she was quick to reach the professional rankings and placed at no. 32 in the world at the age of 18.
  5. As a teenager, she won her first WTA title at the Charleston Open.
  6. She rose to fame in 2018 after finishing as runner-up to fellow player Naomi Osaka at the Premier Mandatory Indian Wells Open. It was a match regarded as a representation of a new wave of women’s tennis.
  7. She achieved the biggest title of her career at the Kremlin Cup at home in Russia.
  8. It was her brother who convinced her parents to have her start playing the sport at a young age. She played 2 to 3 times a week for almost 2 years. Later on, she began competing in higher-level tournaments prior to her professional career.
  9. As a junior, she was ranked as high as no. 3 in the world.
  10. At the age of 14, she started competing on the ITF Junior Circuit and won her first title at her 2nd career event, the low-level Grade 4 Samara Cup. 
  11. She won her first career title at a low-level $10k event in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. She had also won a $25k title in Telavi, Georgia.
  12. In 2016, she made her senior Fed Cup debut for Russia in a World Group quarterfinal against the Netherlands.
  13. In 2019, she competed for Russia during the zonal competitions, recording a win against Karen Barritza in straight sets in the only match she played the whole week. After that, Russia secured a place in the World Group II Play-offs.
  14. As a baseline player, she flaunts a variety of shots including heavy topspin forehands, one-handed slice backhands, kicks serves, and drop shots. Tennis journalist Steve Tignor compared her playing style and ability to former world no. 1 men’s tennis player, Andy Murray.
  15. Her first coach was Maxim Prasolov who started training her at the age of 11. She switched to Coach Damir Rishatovich Nurgaliev at the age of 14.
  16. She prefers watching men’s tennis over women’s tennis.
  17. She’s a sportsperson and likes to play sports in general including football.
  18. In January 2023, Daria lost the final match against Belinda Bencic during the Adelaide International women’s tournament.
