Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark Facts

  1. He has a keen interest in scientific research and has co-authored the 2009 book, Polartokt Kongelig (Polar Cruise Royal) which focuses on the challenges of climate change.
  2. Apart from speaking Danish, Frederik is also fluent in German, French, and English.
  3. One of his favorite hobbies is sailing. He has competed in numerous sailing competitions around Europe.
  4. In 2013, Frederik became the first royal member to complete the KMD Ironman Copenhagen triathlon and reached the finish line in 10 hours, 45 minutes and 32 seconds.
  5. He was elected as a special observer in the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark in October 2009. After completing his first term in 2017, he extended his term for another 8 years.
  6. In January 2024, Frederik acceded to the Danish throne and became the king of Denmark after his mother Margrethe abdicated the throne.
