  1. Although, she has become an elite goalkeeper, but in her high school days, she was a star forward. In high school, she managed to score around 109 goals and was selected as a Parade All-American on two occasions.
  2. When she was 7 years old, she was kidnapped by her father along with his brother. He had picked without informing her mother and took them for a trip to Seattle.
  3. In 2007, she fell out with her US teammate Abby Wambach as Hope felt Wambach had asked the coach to drop her from the World Cup semi-final match. Wambach, in turn, was irked by Hope’s vocal post-match criticism of coach Greg Ryan.
  4. After her outburst against Greg Ryan, she was completely blanked by her teammates. She had to eat her meals alone and once players walked out of the elevator after she stepped in.
  5. She skipped her college graduation event because she was playing for her new soccer club, Philadelphia Charge, which had picked her in the first round of the 2003 WUSA Draft.
  6. In her junior year in college, she feared that her career was over after her forearm was caught on a hook inside the goal post, which ripped her arm open. Fortunately, there was no nerve damage.
  7. She reportedly punched the girl with whom her first boyfriend had hooked up, while he was dating her.
