First Film

Jesper Christensen made his first feature film appearance by playing the role of Young Officer in the crime drama film, Strømer (English: Cop), in 1976. The lead cast of the movie included Jens Okking, Lotte Hermann, Bodil Kjer, and Birgit Sadolin.

In 1977, he made his first theatrical film appearance by playing the role of Journalist in the comedy crime drama movie, Pas på ryggen, professor! (English: Mind Your Back, Professor). It starred actor Ulf Pilgaard.

As a voiceover artist, Jesper Christensen made his feature film debut by providing vocals to the animated film, Trællenes børn, in 1980.

In 1996, he made his theatrical film debut as a voice actor by providing vocals to the character of Hemming /Loke in the film, The Ballad of the Viking King, Holger the Dane.

  1. He has been awarded the Bodil Awards at least 4 times in his career. Christensen has won the award thrice in the “Best Actor” category for his role as Unemployed Man in Did Somebody Laugh? (1978), as Kaj in The Bench (2000), and as Carsten in Manslaughter (2005) while he has also won the same award in the “Best Supporting Actor” category for his performance as Judge in Barbara (1997).
  2. He denied the offer to receive the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog, a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V, in 2006 on grounds that he believed that the entire idea of monarchy is a crime against the members of the royal family and it does not fit with the modern ideas.
  3. Jesper Christensen has served as a producer for a couple of projects such as The King’s ChoiceOne ShotBaby, and Han, hun og Strindberg.
