Larnell Cole Facts

  1. He was a schoolboy and not yet a graduate from the Manchester United Academy when he joined their team.
  2. He is not related to Andy Cole, a well-known soccer player who left Manchester United in 2001. Larnell is often mixed with a fellow soccer player Devante Cole, who is Andy’s son.
  3. He has a deep respect for Sir Alex Ferguson and considers him a father figure. Alex, whom Larnell calls ‘Fergie’, gave him an opportunity to debut for Manchester United U-19 team.
  4. He avoided the legendary ‘hairdryer treatment’ from Sir Alex Ferguson. It’s a term Alex became known for – an angry rant and reprimand to a player or group of players when they aren’t performing up to par.
  5. Larnell, as part of Manchester United, won the English FA Youth Cup in 2011. His teammates at the time were Sean McGinty, Sam Johnstone, Tom Thorpe, Gyliano van Velzen, Michael Keane, William Keane, Ravel Morrison, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Paul Pogba, and Michele Fornasier.
  6. Larnell was Manchester United U-21’s top goalscorer in the 2012-2013 season thus helping them win U21 Premier League.
  7. He was signed to Fulham on the deadline day in January 2014, alongside a fellow teammate Ryan Tunnicliffe.
  8. One of the best things about playing for Tranmere Rovers (2017–2019) for him was the club’s manager, Micky Mellon. He worked with Micky when he was on a loan to Shrewsbury Town between 2015 and 2016.
  9. His strengths have been described as “plenty of skill at pace” and “being comfortable running wide and drifting in-field”.
  10. Larnell has been described as “quiet enthusiast” on the field by some. The fact that he doesn’t have a large media presence outside of the game also added to the nickname’s credibility.
