Morgan Brian is an American professional soccer player who has played in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars and in the women’s national soccer team, where she is renowned for her playmaking skills as a midfielder.   1. St. Simon’s Island, where Morgan grew up, had a prominent soccer culture and she used to play with girls who were 4-5 years older than her. Her smaller frame compared to her teammates earned her the nickname ‘Plankton’.
  2. Morgan played soccer for all 4 years of her high school and helped the team win a state-level title each year. She played basketball as an eighth-grader, freshman, sophomore, and senior in high school. She earned an All-Region as well as an All-State recognition for her basketball exploits.
  3. In 2010, she was honored with the ‘NSCAA Youth Player of the Year’ award as well as the ‘Parade National Player of the Year’. In 2011, she was named ‘Gatorade National Player of the Year’.
  4. She used to play with the Ponte Vedra Storm from the Under-12 to Under-19 levels. She won the Under-17 and Under-19 state championships with the team. The team’s name was changed to Clay County Soccer Club during her Under-19 year.
  5. While at university, Morgan played collegiate soccer for Virginia Cavaliers throughout her 4-course years (2011-2014). During her stint, she scored a staggering 40 goals and recorded 40 assists.
  6. When she was in the 2nd year of university, she was selected to represent the United States at the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She was a key member of the team that won the Gold medal. She was also the youngest member of the United States’ 2010 Under-17 World Cup team that won the bronze medal.
  7. Morgan won the MAC Hermann Trophy, the highest honor for United States’ college soccer players, in 2013 and 2014. She was the 4th female player to win the award in successive years.
  8. Post her collegiate career, she was the first player to be selected in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) draft for the 2015 season by the Houston Dash team.
  9. In the United States’ triumphant World Cup campaign in 2015, Morgan was the youngest member of the squad. She was just 22 years old at that time.
  10. She was featured, with her national teammates, in EA Sports’ FIFA 16 video game. This was the first time that female players were included in the globally popular video game franchise.
  11. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
