  1. In May 2016, he was bought by Borussia Dortmund from Rennes for an undisclosed amount. He signed a 5 year deal with the German club.
  2. In his only season with Borussia Dortmund, he won DFB-Pokal Cup. He was even declared “Man of the Match” in the final match against Bayern Munich. At the end of 2016/17 season, he was selected as the “Bundesliga Rookie of the Season”. He was also included in the “Bundesliga Team of the Season”.
  3. In August 2017, he moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a deal reported to be worth €105 million. About €40 million was tied in add-ons. Rennes also received €20 million from Dortmund’s transfer fees.
  4. Upon his transfer to Barcelona, he was handed number 11 jersey, which was previously worn by the Brazilian superstar Neymar, who had recently left the club for Paris Saint-Germain.
  5. In September 2017, he suffered a hamstring injury in his first league start for Barcelona. He was ruled out for 4 months. He was declared fit in January 2018 but a couple of weeks later, he once again got injured and was ruled out for 4 weeks.
  6. In his debut season with FC Barcelona, he won Copa del Rey as well as La Liga.
  7. In the early months of 2018, it was reported that the officials at Barcelona were concerned about his lifestyle and felt it was having a negative impact on his game. They even decided to provide him with a personal chef to make sure that he wasn’t eating fast food.
