Rebecca Marino is a Canadian professional tennis player who made a promising start to her career after turning professional in 2008. She won numerous ITF (International Tennis Federation) singles titles and had broken into the ‘Top 40’ of the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) singles rankings by July 2011. She took an indefinite break from the sport in February 2013, made a comeback in January 2018, and won her very first tournament upon returning to professional tennis, a 15k ITF tournament in Antalya, Turkey, without dropping a single set. In the early phases of her career, Rebecca had been named the ‘Female Player of the Year’ by Tennis Canada in both 2010 and 2011.

- Born in Toronto, Rebecca’s family relocated to Vancouver by the time she was 2 years old.
- Her mother had signed her up for badminton coaching at the age of 5. However, by the time she turned 10, her coach convinced her parents to make her switch to tennis.
- At the age of just 14, she won the Stanley Park Open, a premier amateur tennis tournament in Vancouver. She was the tournament’s youngest champion in 75 years.
- Her first win against a ‘Top 20’ player came in the 2010 Challenge Bell tournament where she defeated the top seed and then World No. 14 Marion Bartoli in straight sets in the 2nd round.
- Before taking an indefinite break from Tennis in 2013, Rebecca had taken another break to deal with mental and physical fatigue, from February 2012 to August 2012.
