Shahid Kapoor Workout Regime and Diet Plan for Padmavati

Shahid Kapoor looks marvelous as Rajput King Maharaja Rawal Ratan Singh in his upcoming controversial film Padmavati (2018). One look at him and one can’t help but wonder how he looks so sexy, poised, and fit while wearing clothes that almost hide him from top to toe.

If you have been wondering the same thing, then you should rejoice. Here we have mentioned the workout regime and diet secrets of the husband of Mira Rajput that will make you fall in love with him once more.

Emotionally Challenging

The Ishq Vishk (2003) actor has earlier admitted that Padmavati was one of the most physically and emotionally challenging roles of his 14-year career.

Workout Regime

To be physically fit for the role, he underwent rigorous training wherein he had to work out for two hours on a daily basis. He underwent a complete boot camp regime and trained hard under the expert eye of renowned trainer Samir Jaura. This exciting workout regime included cross fit training, functional training, and training with ropes, tires, and ladders (like army men do).

The training also included learning sword fighting and the basics of a weapon based martial art called Mardani Khel. He also went for a respiratory mask workout which is often done by sportsperson who need to be on the field for long. It enhances a person’s stamina and lung capacity.

Diet Secrets

As the Jab We Met (2007) actor is pure vegetarian, creating a diet plan that suited his tough workout regime was not an easy task. To get help with that, he got famous Canadian chef Kelvin Cheung to decide his meal plan that met his body requirements and workouts. The diet plan was low-carb and 100 percent vegetarian. The diet was quite hard to follow but was essential as Shahid needed to lose some weight and look leaner.

To follow this extreme diet, the father of a little munchkin Misha had to give up on artificial sugars. His diet consisted of uninteresting but healthy foods like broccoli, spinach, kale, quinoa, legumes, grains, and brown rice among others. He also had to eat small meals like a bowl of cut mangoes or sweet nuggets made of coconut milk at regular intervals. The Kaminey (2009) actor also survived on steamed vegetables and about 50 gm of brown rice for an entire day.

This diet plan was very intense and he followed it for about 40 days before the shoot. He even gave up sugar and salt for 15 days when close-ups were planned.

Diet Plan

The exact diet plan of the ex-lover of Kareena Kapoor Khan included having five to six meals every day.

Breakfast

Dry fruits and oatmeal

Morning Snack

Fruits and a protein shake

Lunch

Rajma with quinoa, brown rice, and broccoli

Evening Snack

Peanuts or moong or chickpea salad and a protein shake

Dinner

Salad with green veggies or pulses or just a soup

Getting Appreciation

Appreciating Kapoor’s dedication, Jaura said that the star worked for four months to get in the shape he wanted to be in. He was very focused, determined and not at all fussy. Jaura understood the Haider (2014) actor’s body type and his expectations only after a few meetings.

He wanted to look fuller and big to nail the role of a king. He didn’t want to have a huge body but wanted to be able to behave in a manner as a king does. His costumes were also perfect as they showed off the best of him.

Workout and Diet Secrets

The Rangoon (2017) star is well-known for keeping fit and changing his body for particular roles. He did it for scores of films like Kaminey, Rangoon, Udta Punjab (2016), etc. But have you ever wondered what his workout and diet secrets are when he is not training for a role?

If so, you’ll be delighted to know that his workout secret is to maintain a balance between cardio, body weight exercises, equipment training, and yoga. His diet includes sticking to healthy foods like fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, brown rice, quinoa, paneer, low-fat tofu, soy and brown rice.
