During his jersey retirement ceremony, the former New York Yankees player joked that he was “unprepared” for his wife to give birth
“Regardless of how your day went at work, when you get home and you see a smile on your daughter’s face, it makes it all worthwhile.” Derek said this during a CBS This Morning appearance.
Derek said regarding Bella, "She's crawling. She's standing up. She's going to be walking soon."
He called parenting “awesome” at an event, saying, “I’ve been blessed to have two beautiful daughters and I’m looking forward to seeing them grow.”
“My oldest daughter is heading into school somewhat soon, so we’ve begun the process of looking at schools,” Derek told Haute Living after shifting to Miami.
He said this about his family on Instagram Q/A, "The family is doing great. Three girls, almost 5, 3 and 6 months. So pray for me, man!"
"The mornings are early … getting them up, they're not in school right now, but dropping them off at school, picking them up,” Derek told Extra about raising 3 daughters.

Derek said this about raising their girls, "The key is being "supportive" of their dreams. It sounds like a cliché, but you can accomplish anything if you have the right people around you."
