- Despite finishing a disappointing 22nd at the 2015 Macau Grand Prix, Sérgio set the record for the fastest lap of the race which also became the then-lap record for the Macau GP circuit.
- After finishing 3rd at the 2016 Macau Grand Prix, he was set to seal a 2nd successive podium finish at the 2017 event when he was leading the race into the final lap. However, as fate would have it, he was overtaken on the final corner by Ferdinand Habsburg and both the drivers crashed into the wall as a consequence. Sérgio was classified as the holder of the 13th place despite not making it past the chequered flag.
- When he started the 2017 season of the Formula 2 championships, he was the youngest driver on the starting grid. He ended the season in 12th place and finished the following season in a more than creditable 6th position.
