- Renowned cricket coach and former international cricketer Chandrakant Pandit had nicknamed him ‘Junior Chris Gayle’ because of his penchant for hard-hitting strokes.
- Aged just 16, he was the 2nd youngest member of the Indian squad at the 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In India’s first group stage game of the tournament, he had scored 17 runs and picked 2 wickets in a 79-run win over Ireland.
- His star shone in India’s next match, against New Zealand. He first scored 45 runs off just 42 balls to help propel India to a challenging total of 258 runs.
