  1. She used to play as a forward and in the midfield for her high school team that she captained in 2008 and 2009. She helped her team win the New York state championships in 2006, 2007, and 2009. In each of those 3 years, she earned First-team All-State honors. She scored 4 goals within the first 20 minutes of the game in the final of the 2009 season.
  2. In 2009, she was named 2009 NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), ESPNRise, and Parade ‘High school All-American’. She was also named as the ‘New York Gatorade High School Player of the Year.’
  3. During her first year at university, playing for North Carolina Tar Heels, she won the ‘Soccer America Freshman of the Year’ award. She also became the first freshman ever to win the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) ‘Defensive Player of the Year’ award.
  4. During her junior year at university, in 2012, she led her team to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. She won the Hermann Trophy (annually awarded to the United States’ best male and female college athletes) as well as the ‘ACC Athlete of the Year’ and ACC Defender of the Year in 2013.
  5. Crystal was the first overall pick at the 2014 NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) College Draft and was picked up by the Washington Spirit team.
  6. In 2015, she won the NWSL’s MVP (Most Valuable Player) award as well as the ‘Golden Boot’ (highest goalscorer) award. She was just 23 years old and became the youngest player to win both awards. That season, she also set a new season record for the league by scoring at an average of 0.77 goals-per-game.
  7. In the 2018 NWSL season, she scored 8 goals and led North Carolina Courage to the NWSL Shield as the team broke the record for most goals scored in a season and she was named in the 2018 ‘NWSL Best XI’.
