Gabriel Iglesias Facts
- Before fame, he once worked for a cell phone company in Los Angeles.
- In 1997, he went into comedy full-time. However, after doing comedy acts and choosing it as his full-time career, he got evicted from his home and lost his car.
- While doing comedy acts on stage, he tends to often make his bodyweight an entertaining niche, saying “Oh, I’m not fat, I’m fluffy”, elaborating that there were 5 levels of fatness, “Big”, “Healthy”, “Husky”, “Fluffy”, and “DAMN!!!” Adding more humor to his sentence, Iglesias added that the 6th level says, “Oh Hello No!”.
- In 2000, Iglesias appeared in the 6th season of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That alongside Amanda Bynes and Nick Cannon.
- As a voice actor, he voiced an entire Mexican Family in Padre de Familia in 2007. Around the same time, he also began voicing a recurring set of identical twin characters on The Emperor’s New School, a Disney animated series which he has described as his favorite voice work. He has also voiced Ned and Zed in the 2013 DisneyToon Studios film, Planes, as well as the characters in the animated films The Nut Job (2014) and El Americano: The Movie (2016).
- In 2006, he was a contestant on the 4th season of reality TV series Last Comic Standing. Though he surpassed the elimination to become one of the final 8 comics, he was disqualified for using smuggled BlackBerry to communicate with family and friends, which violated the rules of the show.
- In 2011, Comedy Central debuted Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution, a standup showcase series that Iglesias produced and hosted. The show ran for 3 seasons until 2014.
- He hosted 6 episodes of Equals Three.
- He played as a strip club DJ and drug dealer in the film Magic Mike (2012).
- Iglesias has been featured in the reality show Fluffy Breaks Even which premiered on Fuse on October 1, 2015.
- In 2019, he portrayed the character of Gabe Iglesias on Netflix’s original series Mr. Iglesias, a story about a teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School.
- In the past, Iglesias made a guest appearance on WWE Backstage on FS1 during which he participated in a segment called “promo school”.
- He cited Paul Rodriguez, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, and Bill Cosby as his comedy influences.
- He prefers doing a relatively clean comedy and avoids potentially controversial stints like politics or religion.
- Iglesias was presented with numerous awards by the city of El Paso, Texas, on February 10, 2012.
- Besides struggling to achieve a healthier lifestyle, he has struggled with depression and alcohol abuse which was partly caused by his heavy touring schedule.

Gabriel, I want to thank you so very very much for giving me back my ability to laugh. I’m pushing 72 and my wife is 76. We were watching the tube the other night and stumbled across one of your specials. It was a no brainer, Do we watch this? OH HELL YEAH!!! We both haven’t laughed that much for so long we both woke up with sore sides. I was looking through one of your bios and saw the 5 levels of fatness and read them to my wife and she was laughing by the time I got to Level 6. My oldest brother recently passed away from complications from Parkinson’s. During the last time visit I saw him, we started talking about comedians and I asked the entire family present if they had ever seen any of your shows and none of them had, so I did my best to recreate your routine about getting pulled over with a box of Krispy Kreams, I had the whole room in stiches when I said Because you could smell them.
Thanks for making our lives so much better than they could havever been had it not been for you. God Bless You Gabriel.
