Among all her works as an actress, she was well-praised and remembered for her amazing portrayal of the character Xena. The role was originally meant for actress Vanessa Angel but ultimately went to Lucy after she was unable to attend the shooting due to being ill. With how the character was played and given justice to, it later turned out to be one of the most favorites on TV during the time the series was airing along with other shows. Her portrayal as Xena was successful enough to get a spin-off series and it was released in September 1995. Following the spin-off, the show received another blow in ratings and cultural significance that made the series to last until 6 seasons, boosting Lucy’s growing fame as an actress. Aside from becoming widely known as Xena by many fans, she’s also recognized for her recurring roles as Diane Lewis-Swanson on NBC’s hit sitcom Parks and Recreation during which she appeared from 2012 to 2015. Before she went to William Davis Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to study drama, she first debuted on TV as a cast member of New Zealand’s sketch comedy series Funny Business. Aside from acting, she also has an interest in singing and she even joined Fox’s reality TV show Celebrity Duets in 2006 during which she ranked as the runner-up next to winner Alfonso Ribeiro. With her given talent in singing, she had also received voice acting projects from various animated features. In 2008, she voiced the character of Diana Prince commonly known as Wonder Woman for the direct-to-video superhero animated movie Justice League: The New Frontier. 6 years after her debut as a voice actress, she was offered to voice act the militaristic Queen of the Ants on Cartoon Network’s animated TV series Adventure Time.
