  1. His singing career began at the age of 4 when he accompanied his father Agam Kumar Nigam on stage to sing Mohammed Rafi‘s hit song Kya Hua Tera Wada.
  2. Sonu Nigam received training in music from Hindustani classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
  3. Sonu had frequently complained that he had been called a “bachcha” (a kid) in the film industry, which would cause him a lot of angst.
  4. Under the influence of numerology, he had altered the spelling of his name to the odd-sounding ‘Niigaam’. However, Sonu came out of that phase and changed his name back to ‘Nigam’. He claimed to have gained wisdom and was himself amazed for having undergone changes in things such as his hairstyle, his anger outbursts, and his own name.
  5. He has done playback singing for several Hindi movies such as Meherban (1993), Kasam Teri Kasam (1993), Gaddaar (1995), Jeet (1996), etc.
  6. Sonu has also sung for Kannada language movies as well as a variety of other Indian languages such as Bengali, Manipuri, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Maithili, Malayalam, etc.
  7. Sonu Nigam has hosted several shows like the Sa Re Ga Ma music show (1995-1999) which earned him a lot of popularity.

  19. In January 2022, Sonu revealed that he and his wife, son, and sister-in-law had been tested positive for coronavirus.
  20. In February 2023, Sonu and his team were attacked during a concert in Chembur, Mumbai by Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Phaterpekar’s son Swapnil and nephew. Sonu’s friend Rabbani Khan and one of his bodyguards Hariprakash faced injuries. As per Sonu, Swapnil wanted to forcefully take a selfie with him and in turn, attacked Rabbani and Hari when they tried to stop Swapnil.
  21. In July 2023, Sonu shared that some fraudsters were using his name on Instagram to scam people and obtain money forcefully.
