  1. Growing up in Jamaica, Canibus had developed an interest in both beatboxing and break dancing even though he has often stated that he was an introvert as a child.
  2. After the divorce of his parents, before he had become a teenager, he and his mother had emigrated to the United States. Due to the nature of his mother’s work, they were forced to move around frequently and had lived in several places including The Bronx; Newark; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Miami; Buffalo; and London.
  3. After his high school graduation in 1992, he had spent a year working for AT&T Corporation, the subsidiary of AT&T Inc. that provides voice, video, data, and Internet services. Thereafter, he had spent another year working as a data analyst for the U.S. Department of Justice.
  4. In 2002, he had signed up to join the United States Army and had served in Iraq, even being a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2004, he had been discharged from his duties after he was caught smoking cannabis. A year later, in an interview, he had stated that he had joined the army because he had wanted to redefine himself.
