Aditi Ashok is an Indian professional golfer who has competed on both the LET (Ladies European Tour) and the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour. On the LET, she had won the 2016 Hero Women’s Indian Open, the 2016 Qatar Ladies Open, and the 2017 Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open. In 2016, she was also named the ‘LET Rookie of the Year’. At the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, aged just 18, she had become the first golfer ever to represent India at the Olympics. She was the youngest participant in the tournament and had finished in 41st place. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in the women’s individual golf strokeplay event, she had missed out on a medal by a whisker. She was joint 2nd in the overall standings after both the first and the 2nd rounds. She was solo 2nd after the 3rd round but had slipped to 4th place by the end of the last round, missing out on the ‘Bronze’ medal. Her final score was 269 strokes (15 under par) which was 1 stroke behind the ‘Bronze’ and ‘Silver’ medal winners and just 2 strokes behind the ‘Gold’ medal winner Nelly Korda. In 2020, she had been honored with the prestigious ‘Arjuna Award’, the 2nd-highest sporting honor of India.

1. She had shown a keen interest in golf from the age of just 5. Around that time, there were just 3 golf courses in the city of Bengaluru, and her father used to take her to the Karnataka Golf Association driving range for training and practice.
2. She went on to win the National Junior Championship 3 years in a row – 2012, 2013, and 2014. In the last of those years, she had held the national junior and senior titles simultaneously. She was the only golfer who had represented India at the 2013 Asian Youth Games, the 2014 Youth Olympics, and the 2014 Asian Games.
3. When she had won the 2016 Hero Women’s Indian Open, she had become the first Indian golfer to win a trophy on the Ladies European Tour. 2 weeks later, she had won the Qatar Ladies Open, eventually finishing the season in the 2nd position on the ‘Order of Merit’.
4. She had also gained her LPGA Tour card for 2017 via the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. In 2017, she had become the first Indian golfer to compete on the LPGA Tour and had finished 8th on the ‘Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year’ standings. Renowned for her excellent putting skills, she had ended the calendar year 2018 with the second-lowest putting average on the LPGA Tour.
