  1. She has often revealed in her interviews that she took an interest in music because of her mother who wanted Alison to get involved in arts, music, and sports.
  2. At the age of 5, she started her classical violin training. However, she later switched to bluegrass.
  3. She started competing in local talent contests by the age of 8 and used to excel in most of the talent events.
  4. By the age of 10, she had formed her own music band.
  5. She managed to win the Walnut Valley Festival Fiddle Championship at the age of 13. She was declared the Most Promising Fiddler in the Midwest by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America.
  6. In 1985, she signed a recording contract with Rounder Records. As per the clause of the contract, she was required to alternate between a solo album and album with Union Station.
  7. She released her debut album at the age of 16 in 1987. She had opted to use John Pennell’s music band, Union Station, as the backup band for her album.
  8. The Berklee College of Music awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music to Krauss in May 2012.
  9. When she won her first Grammy Award in 1990, she became the 2nd youngest musician to have won the prestigious award.
  10. In 2007, she collaborated with Robert Plant for the music album called Raising Sand. The album was an immense success and was certified platinum by RIAA. The album also won 5 Grammy Awards.
  11. In 2002, she was placed in the 12th spot by Country Music Television in their list featuring 40 Greatest Women of Country Music.
