André Lotterer Facts

  1. André, though born in Germany, was brought up by his mother in the Belgian town of Nivelles. During his professional racing career, he has competed with a Belgian racing license but has chosen to represent Germany.
  2. At the very start of his racing career, he set the scene ablaze with title wins in the 1998 Formula BMW Junior series and the 1999 Formula BMW ADAC championship. He also stood 2nd in the one-off Masters of Formula 3 event in 2001.
  3. After participating as a test driver for the Jaguar Racing F1 Team in 2001 and 2002, he received his next callup to the premier Formula One tier 12 years later, in 2014, when Caterham F1 Team invited him as a substitute for their driver Kamui Kobayashi for a one-off race at the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix. André did not enjoy the best of times though as he was forced to retire after just 1 lap due to a mechanical failure in his car.
  4. He participated in the All Japan Grand Touring Car (JGTC) championship/Super GT series from 2003 to 2011 and won the title in both 2006 and 2009. He also finished 2nd in 2010 and 3rd in 2008.
