Chris Elliott Facts

  1. He was brought up in the Upper East Side neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City.
  2. His father was well known for being a member of the comedy team Bob and Ray.
  3. Prior to becoming an actor, he worked as a production assistant on the Late Night with David Letterman show since it first aired on television in February 1982. Later, in 1983, he started to write for the show and began to appear on camera often.
  4. By the end of the ’80s, Chris had earned himself the break that he needed to launch his acting career and at the time was notably known for the quirky and oddball characters he created and portrayed on Late Night with David Letterman such as The Conspiracy Guy, The Panicky Guy, The Guy Under The Seats, The Fugitive Guy, The Regulator Guy, and A Television Miracle. He even played parody characters such as that of actor Marlon Brando and Morton Downey, Jr. Later, in 1990, he quit the show.
  5. He co-wrote the show FDR: A One Man Show which was spoof based on the life of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  6. Chris is also the author of 4 books, Daddy’s Boy: A Son’s Shocking Account of Life with a Famous Father (1989), The Shroud of the Thwacker (2005), Into Hot Air (2007), and The Guy Under The Sheets.
  7. His house in Old Lyme, Connecticut was once a nut museum.
