  1. Just 6 months after his birth, Clyde’s biological father, Clyde Edwards Sr., was arrested for possession of cocaine and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was later raised by his mother and his stepfather Shannon Helaire.
  2. When he was 14 years old, he had met with an attorney and had his name changed legally from Clyde Edwards Jr. to Clyde Edwards-Helaire to honor both his biological father and his stepfather. It was around this time that his father was released from prison early for good behavior after having served nearly half of his sentence.
  3. At Catholic High School, he was the first player in their then head coach Dale Weiner’s 29-year tenure to have played on the varsity football team as a freshman. A multi-skilled athlete, he also used to compete in track & field events in high school.
  4. In the junior year of his college football career, he had recorded 1,414 rushing yards which were then the 3rd-most in a single season in his college’s history.
  5. In December 2018, he was involved in a near-fatal self-defense shooting when he was involved in a sudden squabble in Scotlandville, Louisiana.
  6. In Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season, he had become the youngest player in NFL history to have rushed for at least 130 yards and score a touchdown in his debut NFL game. He had rushed for 138 yards and had also scored a rushing touchdown in a 34–20 win for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Houston Texans.
