First Soccer Match

On May 10, 2006, Lovren debuted for Dinamo Zagreb in a match against NK Varteks Varazdin.

Dejan played his first official match for the French side Lyon on January 24, 2010, against AS Monaco. Eventually, Lyon lost the match by 2-1.

Lovren had his debut for Southampton on August 17, 2013 in a match against FC Liverpool.

On August 10, 2014, Lovren appeared in his first competitive match for the Reds against Borussia Dortmund. He scored the second goal for his team and contributed in the 4-0 victory.

  2. Because of the Bosnian war, his family moved from Zenica to Munich, Germany when Lovren was 3.
  3. During his stay in Munich, which lasted for 7 years, Dejan learned to speak German fluently. Eventually, the Lovren family was forced to shift back to Croatia because they didn’t possess the needed documents to live in Germany.
  4. He began his soccer career in the youth teams NK Ilovac and NK Karlovac.
  5. He joined GNK Dinamo Zagreb in 2004.
