- It was in 2010 that he started his pursuit of professional cricket and went on to play in the inter-district Under-19 competition in the Faisalabad region. He also played for the Faisalabad Under-19 team.
- He registered a century on his first-class debut in 2013–14.
- Faheem Ashraf took the leading 19 wickets in the 2016–17 Departmental One Day Cup. He also became the leading wicket-taker for Punjab in the 2017 Pakistan Cup as he scored eight dismissals in four matches.
- He was named in Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against the West Indies in March 2017. However, he did not get the chance to play.
- Faheem Ashraf was included in Pakistan’s ODI squad for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in April 2017.
- He went on to score 64 runs in Pakistan’s two-wicket win in an ICC Champions Trophy warm-up match against Bangladesh in 2017.

The hat-trick helped his side seal a series lead while he also became the first bowler for Pakistan (and sixth player overall) to take a hat-trick in a T20I.
- Ashraf was picked by Islamabad United from the Gold category (earning between US$50,000-US$60,000) in November 2017 in the 2018 Pakistan Super League players draft. He gave a praise-worthy performance as he took 18 wickets and scored runs in crucial moments for his side. He became the leading wicket-taker of the tournament and won the best bowler of the season award at the end of the season along with a maroon cap.
- In April 2018, he became a part of Pakistan’s Test squad for the team’s tours to Ireland and England in May 2018.
- On May 11, 2018, Faheem Ashraf made his Test debut for Pakistan in a match against Ireland.
- In a match against Zimbabwe in July 2018, he recorded his first five-wicket haul in ODIs at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. He was named the PCB’s Emerging Player of the Year in August 2018.
