Harnoor Singh Facts

  1. In the opening match of the 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, against the United Arab Emirates, Harnoor had scored 120 runs off 130 balls to lead India to a formidable score of 282/5 which was enough for a massive victory margin of 154 runs. He was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance.
  2. In the next match, against arch-rivals Pakistan, he was India’s 2nd-highest run-scorer with 46 runs off 59 balls which had helped the team post a competitive total of 237 runs. This score had kept India in the game until the last ball off the final over of the match when Pakistan had scraped through to a narrow 2-wicket win. This was India’s only defeat in the 11 matches that they played across the 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
  3. In the final group stage game, against Afghanistan, which was a virtual knockout, he had top-scored for India again, with 65 runs off 74 balls. This had set the stage for India to hunt down a target of 260 runs and qualify for the semi-final. With 251 runs in the 5 games that India played, he was named the ‘Player of the Series’.
  4. In India’s 2nd group stage match of the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, against Ireland, he had again top-scored for the team, with 88 runs off 101 balls. This had helped India post a formidable score of 307/5 and eventually win by a massive margin of 174 runs. He was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance.
  5. Just like the 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, where he had scored 15 and 5 runs respectively in the semi-final and final of the tournament, his performance had tapered down in the knock-out stages of the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His scores in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final of the tournament were 0, 16, and 21 runs respectively.
