- Rachel Robinson (1941-1972) – He met Rachel Robinson during his time at UCLA in 1941, while he was a senior and she was a freshman. They eventually started dating and tied the knot on February 10, 1946. They were blessed with 3 children – two sons named Jackie Robinson Jr. (1946–1971) and David Robinson (b. 1952) and a daughter named Sharon Robinson (b. 1950). Rachel served as an assistant professor at the Yale School of Nursing and director of nursing at the Connecticut Mental Health Center as well as served on the board of the Freedom National Bank. Their oldest child, Jackie Robinson Jr., struggled with drug issues and was killed in an automobile accident on June 17, 1971, at the age of 24.
