Jonny Fairplay Facts
- In January 2008, Jonny had requested members of his tribe on the reality TV show Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites to vote him off so that he could return home to be with his pregnant girlfriend.
- In 2013, he was inducted into the ‘Survivor Hall of Fame’ and was the only non-winner to have been inducted into the Class of 2013.
- In December 2020, he and his mother had been arrested on larceny charges after an aunt of his had complained to the local police that the duo had stolen 3 barstools, a table, a leather desk chair, and a silver necklace worth USD 7k. The woman had also alleged that Jonny’s mother had mentally abused Jean Hauser Cooke, his grandmother, who was suffering from dementia.
- Jean is the same grandmother that Jonny had falsely claimed had died in 2003 while he was competing on the reality TV series Survivor: Pearl Islands. Before leaving for Panama for the show’s shooting, he had cooked up a plan with his close friend Dan that the latter would lie to everyone on the show that the former’s grandmother had passed away so that he could earn sympathy votes and gain an unfair advantage on the show. The rest of the contestants on the show discovered the truth only after the filming for the season had been completed. The incident had made him one of the most hated reality TV personalities.
- He had legally changed his name from Jon Dalton to Jonny Fairplay in 2013 and become a professional wrestler. He had already been involved with professional wrestling since 1998 when he had started his own promotion called New Dimension Wrestling in Oregon and used to serve as a commentator there.
- Jonny is a college football buff and his other hobbies include listening to music and binge-watching TV series.
