- He was 17 years old when he (along with other unsigned prospects) traveled to the Cleveland Indians‘ Dominican facility in Boca Chica in 2009. José Ramírez was subsequently noticed by a Cleveland Indians‘ scout, eventually signing with the team and receiving a $50,000 signing bonus.
- In 2011, he made his debut with the Arizona Indians of the Rookie-level Arizona League and batted .325 in 48 games played. He then went on to play for the Toros del Este of the Dominican Winter League.
