Parker Sawyers is an American actor who is best known for his portrayal of a young Barack Obama in the 2016 biographical romantic drama film, Southside With You. He started his acting career with a minor role in the 2012 episode of the TV series Lilyhammer and has since then appeared in numerous films and TV shows.

- He used to work for American politician Mitch Daniels, the former Governor of the American state of Indiana before switching to a career in acting. He has stated that he had never acted before, not even in any school play.
- Parker had also worked as a model for a brief while in Chicago and would often hear remarks about his physical similarities to Barack Obama. He decided to wear a baseball cap to avoid such talks.
- He later moved to London and while taking his daughter for a stroll in the park one day, he met an actor whose agent represented people with American accents. Parker contacted the agent and within a month he had landed his first acting role, as a Norwegian crossdresser for the TV show Lilyhammer.
- For enacting the role of a young Barack Obama on the silver screen in the 2016 film Southside With You, he was nominated for the “Breakout of the Year” award at the 2016 Indiana Film Journalists Association Awards and for the “Outstanding Actor, Motion Picture” at the 2017 Black Reel Awards.
- Parker had almost lost the role in Southside With You with his first audition tape as it was a straight impersonation of Barack Obama. He sent in a 2nd tape with a more toned down portrayal and was selected.
- Interestingly, Michelle Obama had stated that she would have loved for either Denzel Washington or Will Smith to portray her husband when the film was announced.
