Ragan Smith is a former American artistic elite gymnast who has built quite a reputation in her gymnastic career. She has been a five-time member of the US National Team from 2014 to 2019. She has also been hailed as the 2017 American all-around champion and was also an alternate for the 2016 Olympic team. Before she debuted with the US National team in 2014, she first qualified for the Junior International Elite status in 2013 and eventually advanced to the 2013 Secret U.S Classic held in  Hoffman Estates, Illinois. She ended at the 23rd spot in the all-around which led her to advanced to the U.S Nationals later in the month during which she ended at 17th place. Smith, who ended her junior career quite impressively after completing the Secrete U.S Classic at 1st place, 2nd on the all-around, and 3rd on vault, made her senior debut at the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy in March 2016 during which she finished 2nd on the beam and the all-around. She competed at the Olympic Trials in San Jose on  July 10, 2016, wherein she scored 15.3 on the balance beam and ended it at 2nd place. Smith’s debut in her senior career turned out a successful one as she brought home tons of awards and medals during her first 3 years. In early 2017, she won a gold medal ahead of Japanese Olympian Asuka Teramoto at the American Cup held in Newark, New Jersey.

On the same year, she went on to compete at the U.S Classic on uneven bars and balance beam wherein she took the number 1 spot on both events. She made her comeback following an ankle injury in April 2018 and competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy as an individual alongside her club teammate Emma Malabuyo. At the time, she won silver in the all-around, balance beam, and uneven bars. In late July of the same year, she competed at the 2018 U.S Classic on vault, balance, and uneven bars, during which ended 3rd place on the balance beam. After finishing at 10th in the all-around, 8th on both vault and on the beam, she was not selected for the 8th member national team for the year. After the minor setback, she went on to take part in more competitions and was added back into the National Team. Though Smith made several appearances on the U.S Women’s National Team camps in January, February, and May, she was noticeably absent during the June camp, which sparked rumors claiming that she was going to join the University of Oklamo in the fall. July of the same year, Smith confirmed through her official Instagram page that she had decided to sign with Oklahoma Sooners for the 2019-20 season, which can be a strong indication of ending her elite career.
