Tang Wei is a Chinese actor, theatre artist, and voice actor who rose to acclaim with her role as Wong Chia Chi in the 2007 film Lust, Caution. This role won her several accolades including the Iron Elephant Award for “Best Actress”, the Chinese Film Media Award for “Best Newcomer”, and Golden Horse Award and Asian Film Critics Association Award for “Best New Performer”.   2. Growing up, she often traveled around China and learned to paint as she was influenced by her parents.
  3. Tang Wei initially wanted to pursue a career as an archaeologist or lawyer until she entered a modeling shoot in 1997.
  4. As a theatre artist, she was cast as Lai Shengchuan in A Dream Like a Dream in 2001 and as Yang Ting in Che Guevara in 2004.
  5. In October 2007, Variety named Tang Wei as one of the “Top 10 Actors to Watch”.
