  1. He was raised in the East Harlem neighborhood of Upper Manhattan, New York City.
  2. He started rapping around the time when he was 11 or 12 years old.
  3. Growing up, Black Rob was inspired by listening to the music of artists like Spoonie Gee, Doug E. Fresh, and Slick Rick.
  4. He was signed to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ Bad Boy Entertainment record label.
  5. Black Rob joined his first rap group called the Schizophrenics when he was 22 years old. However, the group did not release any albums.
  6. On March 7, 2000, he released his debut studio album Life Story via Bad Boy Entertainment and Arista. The album included songs like Whoa!, Can I Live (ft. the LOX), Lookin’ At Us (ft. CeeLo Green), Espacio (ft. Lil’ Kim and G-Dep), PD World Tour (ft. Puff Daddy), Muscle Game (ft. Mark Curry and Mario Winans), Thug Story, I Love You Baby (ft. Puff Daddy), and Down the Line Joint (ft. Puff Daddy, Mark Curry, Ma$e, and G-Dep).
  7. His album Life Story peaked at #1 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (Billboard) chart and at #3 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Also, it was certified ‘Platinum’ by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
  8. Black Rob made appearances on Cru‘s 1997 album Da Dirty 30 as well as on albums by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Channel Live, The Madd Rapper, Benzino, Tony Touch, and others.
  9. His 2nd album titled The Black Rob Report came out on October 18, 2005. It did not perform as well as his debut album and quickly fell off the Billboard 100 charts.
  10. The rapper was sentenced to over 7 years in prison in 2006 after he failed to appear in court for his sentencing (which was set to be 2 to 6 years initially) on a charge of grand larceny from 2004. He had pleaded guilty to criminal possession of more than US$6,000 worth of jewelry stolen in a hotel.
  11. Black Rob’s 3rd and final album Game Tested, Streets Approved was released on July 26, 2011, through Duck Down Music Inc. and it included songs like Wanna Get Dough, Welcome Back, Up North, This is What it Is, Sand to the Beach, Celebration, and Made Me a Man. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
  12. Along with Ed Lover, Calvin Richardson, David “Davinch” Chance (of Ruff Endz), Jeff Sanders, Jameio, Mr. Cheeks, and Horace Brown, Black Rob joined the reality series Come Back Kings in 2013.
