Arman Tsarukyan is an Armenian-Russian professional mixed martial artist who began competing in the lightweight division of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship – an American mixed martial arts promotion company that is considered to be the largest of its kind and the most prestigious in the world) in April 2019. As of November 2023, he had amassed an 8-2 win-loss record in the promotion and won 5 ‘UFC Bonus Awards’ – ‘Performance of the Night’ (three times) and ‘Fight of the Night’ (two times). As of December 5, 2023, Arman was ranked 4th in the UFC lightweight rankings. Before joining UFC in April 2019, he had put together a 13-1 win-loss record (between September 2015 and August 2018), competing in promotions such as MFP (Modern Fighting Pankration), OFS (Octagon Fighting Sensation), League S-70, Road Fighting Championship, and Gods of War World MMA Championship. - Arman was born into an Armenian family living in Akhalkalaki, a small town in Georgia that is situated near the Armenian border. His family moved to Russia when he was about 3 years old. Hence, he holds both Armenian and Russian citizenship.
- In his teens, he excelled in freestyle wrestling (one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games). However, he soon switched to ice hockey and played the sport for nearly a decade. Arman was forced to quit ice hockey so that he could help out in his father’s construction business.
- He eventually took to mixed martial arts and made his professional debut in September 2015. Besides his professional mixed martial arts career, he has dabbled in grappling (a full-contact combat sport based on throws, trips, sweeps, clinch fighting, ground fighting, and submission holds).
- In October 2023, Arman won the expert middleweight division of the NAGA Los Angeles Championship – defeating all 3 of his opponents via submission. NAGA (North American Grappling Association) is a grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (a self-defense martial art and combat sport) promotion whose tournaments are held throughout North America and Europe.
