Aroldis Chapman is an American professional baseball pitcher who plays for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). Before playing for the Yankees, he previously played for the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs as well as in the Cuban National Series for Holguin.

- His grandparents emigrated from Jamaica to Cuba to get a better education.
- At the age of 15, a friend invited him to join a local baseball team during which he started playing as a first baseman until the coach noticed that he could throw well-enough to qualify as a pitcher. He started playing as a pitcher in 2003.
- In 2006, he joined the Holguín Sabuesos of the Cuban National Series League.
- In his career innings, he has compiled a tally of 24-19 win-loss records, a 3.74 earned run average (ERA), and 365 strikeouts. Despite completing 11 relief appearances in the 2007 season, Chapman was only used mainly as a starting pitcher.
