Danilo Gentili is a Brazilian comedian, TV host, writer, cartoonist, businessman, and political commentator who had first come into the spotlight for his work on the news-satire TV show Custe o Que Custar (2008-2011). He would then go on to host the popular late-night talk shows Agora É Tarde (2011–2013) and The Noite com Danilo Gentili (2014–present). Besides his work on television, he is a partner in a couple of stand-up comedy clubs and has published multiple books.

Danilo Gentili Facts
- Danilo’s 2009 book Como se Tornar o Pior Aluno da Escola (How to become the worst student in school) was criticized heavily in Brazil as a poor influence on students. After receiving a warning from a body of independent public prosecutors, the book’s publisher had put a warning note on the book stating that it was not suitable for children below the age of 18. This incident had only served to bring more attention to the book and in September 2012, a film production company had struck a deal to make a movie based on it.
- In October 2013, he had been sued by Michele Rafaela Maximino, a nurse, and human milk donor, alleging that a joke made by him on Agora É Tarde had caused her to be bullied in her hometown due to which she had stopped donating milk. A judge had ruled that Rede Bandeirantes, the network on which the show was being aired would have to pay damages of R$5k for each day that the joke remained on their website.
- A couple of years later, Rede Bandeirantes had filed a lawsuit to stop his late-night talk show The Noite com Danilo Gentili from airing at another network. The broadcaster had alleged that Danilo had been contracted with them until 2015. In August 2015, he had been ordered to pay R$2 million by a judicial court for breach of agreement, with the judicial panel noting damages such as the loss of advertisers for the broadcaster.
- Before this, in June 2014, Alberto Cantalice, the vice president of a political party named Partido dos Trabalhadores, had put Danilo on a blacklist called ‘A desmoralização dos pitbulls da grande mídia’ (Demoralizing the mainstream media pitbulls) which was published on the party’s official website. The party had accused all those on the blacklist of elitism and anti-poor rhetoric.
