- In 2019, she accused the then-American President, Donald Trump of r*ping her in the dressing room of a Bergdorf Goodman department store located in New York City sometime between late 1995 and early 1996. Trump, on his part, denied the serious allegations by stating that Carroll was “not my type” and insisting that “it never happened.”
- In November 2022, Carroll filed a civil lawsuit against Trump for battery and defamation in connection to her s**ual assault charges against him. The trial for the same commenced on April 25, 2023.
- Her exceptional writing has appeared in reputed magazines such as The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, and many others. Moreover, she has also worked as a contributing editor for several magazines including Esquire, Outside, and New York.
- Carroll wrote the widely popular advice column ‘Ask E. Jean’ for Elle Magazine from 1993 until December 2019. In February 2020, she alleged on Twitter that she was fired from her long-term job because Trump had tarnished her reputation publicly, ridiculed her looks, and dragged her through the mud in retaliation for her s**ual assault allegation against him. The magazine, however, maintained that Carroll’s redundancy was not related to Trump at all.
- She was called ‘feminism’s answer to Hunter S. Thompson’ by The New York Times in 2019.
- In the mid-1980s, Carroll worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live. For her work on the show, she received an Emmy nomination in the ‘Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program’ category in 1987.
