Left Brain is an American rapper and record producer who has remained mostly behind the scenes while allowing fellow Odd Future band members to take plaudits. He has been credited as the main producer for a lot of music released by the popular hip-hop collective. Best Known For

  • Being the founding member of the popular hip-hop collective, Odd Future. The other members of the group are Tyler, the Creator, Frank Ocean, Jasper Dolphin, Syd, and Earl Sweatshirt.
  • Being one half of the hip-hop duo, MellowHype. They are best known for the commercial success of the studio album, Numbers, which peaked at the 8th spot on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was also briefly featured as the #1 rap album on iTunes.

First Album

His debut studio album with MellowHype was BlackenedWhite, which was released in July 2011. The album was previously released for free downloads as a mixtape in October 2010. The July 2011 version didn’t have Chordaroy single as Fat Possum Records didn’t have permission to feature Earl Sweatshirt’s vocals. The album sold 6,000 copies within a week of release.

In 2010, he released his debut studio album, Solipsism.

First TV Show

In 2011, Vyron Dalyan Turner made his first TV show appearance on the music talk show, The Daily Habit.

  1. He is a godfather of Hodgy‘s son, Trenton.
  2. He first started collaborating with Hodgy in 2006 or 2007.
  3. In 2015, Hodgy revealed that MellowHype had been disbanded. In February 2017, it was announced that they got back together and were working for Left Brain’s Mind Gone Volume 1.
  4. He mostly performs the role of producer for the music created by MellowHype. Hodgy is mostly tasked with rapping.
  5. In 2017, he released his debut mixtape, Mind Gone Vol. 1, which had guest appearances from his fellow Odd Future members – Hodgy, Domo Genesis, and Syd Tha Kyd.
  6. MellowHype‘s single On Ya Mind was featured on the soundtrack of the video game, Madden 12. Hodgy later revealed that Left Brain had composed that song when he was studying in high school.
  7. He has been credited as the producer for many songs released by Odd Future including singles on The Odd Future Tape and The OF Tape Vol. 2.
