- In 2002, he made his first film appearance as Muthu (Kaliyappan’s son) in the Malayalam film Nizhalkuthu (English: Shadow Kill, French: Le Serviteur de Kali).
- Narain played a singer named Murali Iyer in the 2006 Malayalam-language coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film Classmates. The film is considered by many critics as one of the best campus-based films in Malayalam and it became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2006.
- Alongside Prasanna, Ajmal Ameer, and Vijayalakshmi, Narain co-starred as SI Sathyavan (Sathya) in the 2008 Tamil-language neo-noir action thriller film Anjathe. The film was a box-office hit and got Narain nominated in the “Best Actor” category at the 56th Filmfare Awards South.
- He co-starred as Alexander Felix in the 2009 Malayalam-language neo-noir action thriller film Robin Hood.
