- In his senior year at the John Marshall Metropolitan High School, Patrick had led his state in scoring with 37.3 points per game and was named ‘Co-Player of the Year’. He was also selected for participation in the ‘Roundball Classic’, a national high school ‘All-Star Game’.
- In his freshman year at the University of Arkansas, 2006–07, he had recorded averages of 13.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. For his performances, he was named the ‘Southeastern Conference (SEC) Newcomer of the Year’ by the Associated Press and the ‘SEC Freshman of the Year’ by the league’s coaches. He had also earned ‘SEC All-Freshman Team’ honors and second-team ‘All-SEC‘ honors.
