He has co-founded the independent skateboarding company Alien Workshop (AWS) and the Street League Skateboarding (SLS) enterprise, the latter growing into an international league that has offered the highest overall prize purse in the history of the sport. In the latter part of his career, he has dabbled in the entertainment industry and has starred/hosted the reality TV shows Rob & Big, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, and Ridiculousness. He has also conceptualized and created an animated TV  series called Wild Grinders, lending his voice to the starring character of Lil Rob.

Rob Dyrdek Facts

1. He used to participate in various sports as a child and had started skateboarding at the age of 11 after receiving his first skateboard from professional skateboarder Neil Blender. His skateboarding career had kicked off a year later after he was sponsored by the company that Neil was a team member of.
2. He was the first professional skateboarder to have built a private indoor skate park. The park, named TF (Training Facility), had become operational in San Diego in 1998.
3. In an episode of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, he had jockeyed a racehorse for a friend. This experience had encouraged him to become a racehorse owner and he had bred/owned up to 13 horses at a time. His horses have raced in several prestigious competitions including the Breeder’s Cup.
