First Soccer Match

  1. While growing up, he used to play for the youth team in his hometown run by UTA, Argentina’s road transport union.
  2. His last season with River Plate was a disaster as the club was relegated for the first time in its prestigious history.
  3. In August 2011, he joined the Serie A club Udinese and signed a five-year deal with the new club. However, his first season with the club was very difficult as he struggled with a severe bout of homesickness.
  4. In July 2014, he moved from Udinese to Juventus on a year-long loan deal worth €1.5 million. The club had an option to convert his loan deal into a permanent one at the end of the season with an additional €14 million.
  5. Before he agreed to a move to Juventus, he was also heavily courted by Inter Milan. However, he decided to go with Turin based club because they were better placed to win trophies.
  6. When he arrived at Juventus, he was expected to serve as a backup for Juventus’s formidable midfield which included Claudio Marchisio, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, and Paul Pogba. However, his great form saw him make 52 appearances, which was the most appearances made by any player in the season. He was tied up with Marchisio and Leonardo Bonucci.
  7. In August 2016, Watford paid €13 million to Juventus to acquire Pereyra. He signed a 5 year deal with his new club.
  8. While playing for Juventus, he managed to win 2 Serie A titles, 2 Coppa Italia cups, and 1 Supercoppa Italiana.
  9. With the Argentina National team, he managed to win the runners-up medal at the 2015 Copa America. His side failed to overcome Chile in the finals.
