Sōta Yamamoto is a Japanese figure skater who has won several competitions that include the 2018 CS Asian Open Trophy championship, the 2015–16 Japan junior national championship, and the 2016 Youth Olympic championship. He is also a two-time Junior Grand Prix Final medalist.

- Yamamoto was only 5 years old when he began taking an interest in skating.
- He made his professional debut at the 2013–14 season of the ISU Junior Grand Prix series where he managed to attain 11th place. He then went on to bag 5th place at the junior title of the Japan Championships.
- Yamamoto won his first gold medal at the 2015–16 ISU Junior Grand Prix that was held in Toruń, Poland, and a bronze medal in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After that, he qualified to compete at the 2015–16 JGP Final where he attained a bronze medal.
