If you have ever seen a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, it’s quite possible that you might have wondered what workout secrets these stunning beauties follow to look that great. Well, those are no more secrets as they were recently revealed by one of their trainers, Michael Blauner who also shared some tips on how to stay fit during the holiday season and how to get a taut tummy like J-Lo. Read it all below.
Hard and Fast Training
The strict trainer admits that he trains VS models hard and fast. He mixes a lot of training modalities into each workout which includes a lot of calisthenics, bodyweight exercises, cardio and yoga among others.
In his opinion, you should do strength training as it is the best way to get a toned look. If you are trying to shape up, you might not need to do a ton of cardio exercises. You should focus on doing resistance exercises as they will ensure that your muscles undergo stress because it will allow them to become more toned and conditioned.
Booty Exercises
If you are pining for a booty like a VS model, then you need to do a lot of lunges, squats and supine butt lifts. They will work your legs and glutes perfectly.
Less Cardio
Though you shouldn’t do many cardio exercises if you want to tone up your body, you should do some of it. Dedicating 15 minutes, two or three times a week to cardio is a smart idea. If you are a runner, running for 15 minutes for two or three times a week is enough.
Keep Changing Exercises
You also need to keep the workouts fun and keep changing them. The former will ensure that you don’t get bored of the same routine while the latter will make sure that your body keeps guessing.
How to Stay Fit During the Holiday Season?
The holiday season is about to begin, and so is the challenge of keeping fit when all your favorites are laid on pretty platters. You should stay focused on fitness during the holidays by using visualization and remembering how good you feel when you are fit.
Positive thinking plays a key role when you are trying to maintain fitness or lose weight. Create a positive mantra regarding staying fit during the festive season and repeat it over and over again if you feel tempted by any delicious delicacy.
Indulge a Bit
Staying fit doesn’t mean that you can’t indulge a bit. You are allowed to eat and drink more during the holidays, but you should compensate for it by working extra hard during the post-holiday workout sessions. It’s okay if you eat more calories than you burn during holidays as long as you make up for it after the holidays. When you do this, you ensure that you stay on top of your game.
How to Get a Tummy Like J-Lo
If you have ever seen the pictures of a taut tummy flaunted by Jennifer Lopez, then you would know that it’s a dream for many women. To achieve that dream, you need to have a lot of discipline, says Michael. You should remember that if your midsection is fit, it means that your entire body is fit.
Exercises for Your Mid-Section
Some ab exercises suggested by him to all J-Lo fans are planks, crunches, full sit-ups, vertical leg raises, burpees, and core twists with a medicine ball.
Lower Back Exercises
Blauner believes that when you are working on your abs, you need to work on your lower back as well. Every muscle in your body has an opposing muscle, and if the balance between them is lost, it might lead to weakness and increase the chances of an injury.
Some lower back exercises you should try are butt lifts from floor position, hyperextensions and yoga push-ups, also known as Cobras.
Eat Right
If you are hoping for a body like J-Lo, you need to watch your diet along with exercising right. You should follow a real clean diet that is high in protein and low in processed sugar. If you do that for two weeks, the bad eating habits would be a memory as you will start liking healthy foods.
Eating healthy foods will not only make you look better, but it will also make you feel better from the inside. If you are not eating right, all your exercise efforts may be a waste as your body won’t change much with a bad diet.
