Zab Judah Facts
- He had started boxing from the age of just 6. Before turning professional in September 1996, he had amassed a stellar amateur career win-loss record of 110–5. During his amateur career, he was a 2-time US national champion and a 3-time New York Golden Gloves champion. He had also won the 1996 PAL (Police Athletic League) National Championship.
- He had narrowly missed out on qualification for the 1996 Olympics after losing in the finals of the national trials. However, he was later included in the US national team, as an alternate to the primary boxers chosen in the team.
- In July 2006, he was arrested by local police, on a family court’s warrant, on charges of domestic assault, straight after his participation in a celebrity basketball game at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
- In August 2007, he was involved in a street brawl at the Stereo nightclub in New York. It was reported that he had punched a person after he was hit first by someone who had approached him. 2 friends of that person had later become involved in the squabble and eventually everyone involved in the fight had to be kicked out of the club. The club later revealed, after reviewing their CCTV footage, that the perpetrators might have plotted the assault well in advance.
