- He is a former gymnast who was a member of the British gymnastics squad until the age of 16. However, he was prevented from pursuing gymnastics further after he broke his back while practicing on the rings. So, he subsequently started to pursue a career in acting.
- Matthew Wolfenden was cast as Timmy Payne in an episode titled One Hit Wonder of the television drama show The Courtroom in July 2004.
