- Born in Greenville, Texas, 40 Glocc had moved to California with his mother when he was 10 years old. After shuttling between various towns and cities in the state, the family had settled down in the city of Colton.
- In 1996, he had been arrested after a shootout in Colton and was charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
- In 1997, he and his friends had formed a musical group called Zoo Crew. A few months later, they had recorded their first album together titled Migrate, Adapt, or Die.
- His big break in the music industry came when he had negotiated a deal with the record label Empire Musicwerks, with distribution by BMG. It was through this deal that he had released his first studio album titled The Jakal (2003). However, soon after the release of this album, he had decided to part ways with Empire Musicwerks.
